Kennedy Sues 2 Nurses

WHITE PLAINS (AP) — Douglas Kennedy, a son of Robert F. Kennedy, is suing two nurses for defamation and malicious prosecution after his acquittal on criminal charges in a maternity ward scuffle. Mr. Kennedy said the nurses’ claims that he had hurt them damaged his reputation and led to his prosecution. He was acquitted in November of child endangerment and physical harassment. The charges stemmed from Mr. Kennedy’s attempt a year ago to take his 2-day-old son from Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, N.Y. He said he wanted him to get some fresh air. The nurses objected and tried to block his way. They said he then injured them, and have sued Mr. Kennedy for $200,000. His wife, Molly, is also a plaintiff, saying the case has caused her emotional distress. The nurses’ lawyer said on Tuesday that Mr. Kennedy’s lawsuit was baseless.
